Chapter 15 - The New Dawn

The soft knock at the bridal suite door barely registered over the joyful chatter of the reception hall, but Daniel paused, pulling back gently from Ivy with a raised eyebrow. He walked over to the heavy wooden door and pulled it open, expecting room service or a late-arriving photographer.
Standing in the doorway was Marcus Vance, holding a clean, unsealed manila envelope with a federal court seal stamped across the flap.
"Sorry to interrupt your wedding day, Daniel," Marcus said with a warm, genuine smile that reached his eyes. "But I figured you’d want the final closure before you cut the cake."
Daniel took the envelope, his fingers sliding open the flap to pull out a single sheet of official judicial stationery. He scanned the legal summary, a slow, profound smile spreading across his face.
"What is it, Daniel?" Ivy asked, walking over in her lace wedding gown, with Lily holding onto the edge of her skirt.
"Eleanor’s legal team filed three separate emergency appeals this morning," Daniel explained, looking up to meet Ivy’s eyes. "All three were unanimously rejected by the appellate panel. Combined with the federal fraud and corporate coercion charges, she’s facing a mandatory minimum of twenty years without the possibility of parole."
Ivy let out a breath she felt like she had been holding for six years. The last lingering shadow of fear evaporated completely from her heart. She reached out, taking Daniel’s hand and interlacing her fingers with his.
"And Richard?" Ivy asked softly. "What happened to the estate?"
"Richard filed for an amicable divorce and retained full control of the Vance family holdings," Marcus answered smoothly. "He’s restructuring the entire foundation into a charitable trust focused on supporting young mothers and families in need. He wanted me to tell you both that he’s moving away to start a quiet life volunteering overseas."
Marcus tipped his head respectfully, offering Lily a small wink before slipping back out toward the ballroom to join the celebration.
Daniel knelt down to Lily’s eye level, lifting her up into his arms. He looked at Ivy, seeing the radiant, unburdened happiness shining in her eyes. The trauma of the past, the lies, the cruelty, and the darkness had all been washed away by the simple, enduring power of truth and love.

"Come on, my girls," Daniel whispered, carrying Lily with one arm and wrapping the other securely around Ivy’s waist as they turned back toward the golden light of the crowded ballroom. "Let’s go start our real lives together."
As they stepped back onto the dance floor, the music swelled softly around them, wrapping them in a warm embrace. Lily giggled, resting her head comfortably against Daniel’s shoulder as they swayed to the rhythm. Ivy rested her cheek against Daniel’s chest, listening to the steady, strong beat of his heart. For the first time in their lives, the future stretched out before them entirely unwritten, beautiful, and completely secure.
