Chapter 14 - Justice on the Rocks

The blinding spotlight from the tactical helicopter pinned Eleanor against the rocky cliff edge, the ferocious rotor wash whipping her blonde hair and Chanel suit into a chaotic frenzy. She stumbled backward a half-step, her hands flying up to shield her eyes from the blinding glare while she desperately tried to keep her grip on the heavy steel revolver.
"Drop the weapon! Federal marshals! Drop it now!" a voice boomed through the helicopter’s powerful external loudspeakers.
Simultaneously, tactical agents in full gear dropped rapidly from ropes suspended on both sides of the cliff ledge, surrounding Eleanor before she could recover her balance. One of the agents lunged forward with military precision, kicking the revolver out of her hand. The weapon clattered across the stones before plunging over the edge into the churning ocean below.
Eleanor shrieked in fury, lashing out at the agents as they forced her hands behind her back and snapped heavy steel handcuffs around her wrists.
"Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am? I am Eleanor Vance!" she screamed, her voice cracking with hysterical desperation as she was shoved toward the waiting aircraft cabin.
Daniel let out a long, shuddering breath, feeling the crushing weight lift from his shoulders for the first time in his life. He turned around and pulled Ivy and Lily into his arms, holding them tightly against him as the terrifying nightmare finally came to an end.
Julian stood a few feet away, watching his sister get hauled into the chopper with a quiet, hollow sadness in his eyes.
"It’s really over," Ivy whispered against Daniel’s chest, tears of profound relief streaming down her cheeks. "We’re finally free."
"We’re free," Daniel murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead before looking down at Lily, who was smiling up at them with bright, unclouded eyes. "Let’s go home, family."
Two weeks later, the storm had cleared, leaving behind a crisp, golden autumn afternoon. The grand ballroom of the hotel—the very same room where their wedding reception had violently unraveled—was now filled with soft acoustic music, warm laughter, and genuine family and friends. There were no fake elites, no corporate extortionists, and no dark secrets hiding beneath the surface.
Ivy stood before the floral altar in a brand-new, simple white lace gown that radiated understated elegance. Richard walked her down the aisle with a quiet, genuine smile, handing her hand over to Daniel with a respectful nod of redemption.
As Daniel placed the gold band on Ivy’s finger, the entire room erupted into warm, heartfelt applause. Lily stood nearby as the flower girl, tossing silk petals with an ear-to-ear grin.

Just as Daniel leaned in to kiss his bride under the amber glow of the chandeliers, a quiet knock sounded at the private bridal suite door behind the altar.
