By afternoon, news of the impending arrest of real estate mogul Adrian Vance broke across major media outlets. Journalists swarmed the gates of the Sterling Estate, seeking statements regarding the dramatic confrontation at the Grand Regent Hotel.
However, Adrian was not a man to go down without a fight. Knowing his empire was collapsing, he sought out the corrupt elements of his old network.
As twilight fell over the harbor, the power lines supplying the hill district were suddenly severed, plunging the Sterling Estate into darkness. The backup generators hummed to life, but within minutes, alarm sirens blared through the house.
Julian acted instantly. "Clara, take Elena and the babies to the secure panic room in the basement!" he ordered, reaching into his desk drawer for a secure radio.
"Julian, no!" Elena cried out, clutching baby Hope while Clara gathered Grace and Faith. "Don't go out there!"
"I have to secure the perimeter," Julian said, his eyes fierce with determination. "My security team is outside, but I won't let anyone step foot inside this house. Trust me, Elena. Go!"
