Chapter 4: The Sanctuary on the Hill

The SUV arrived at Julian’s estate, a historic manor nestled on a quiet, tree-lined hill overlooking the harbor. The house was illuminated by warm, amber lights, radiating a sense of peace that Elena hadn't felt in years.
As they carried the babies inside, a kindly older woman named Clara—Julian’s long-time housekeeper and nanny—rushed forward with warm towels and a wide, welcoming smile.
"Oh, thank heaven," Clara said tearfully, seeing Elena holding Faith while Julian carried Hope and Grace. "Welcome home, my dear. The nursery is all prepared."
Julian led Elena upstairs to a sunlit, spacious nursery decorated in soft cream and blush tones. Three wooden cribs lined the wall, each fitted with hand-knitted blankets. Toys and storybooks filled white wooden shelves, revealing the immense love and care Julian had poured into raising the girls on his own over the past few months.
Elena stood in the center of the room, overwhelmed by the contrast between Adrian’s cold, manipulative world and the gentle warmth of Julian’s sanctuary.
"You did all of this alone?" Elena asked softly, watching Julian lay Hope and Grace down into their cribs with delicate precision.

"I had help from Clara," Julian smiled faintly, turning to look at her. "But every night, as I fed them and rocked them to sleep, I kept telling them about their mother. I told them that somewhere out there, a brave, beautiful woman was waiting to hold them. I never lost faith that we would find you."
Elena placed sleeping Faith into her crib, lingering over the three identical faces. For the first time in years, the crushing weight in her chest began to lift.
