Chapter 10: The Coastal Cottage

The Vance coastal estate was a charming two-story wooden house perched on a low cliff overlooking a quiet sandy cove. It had been locked and neglected since her father’s passing, but Julian had sent a crew ahead to clean the grounds, repair the roof, and stock the kitchen with fresh food.
When Elena stepped onto the wooden porch, memories of her childhood came rushing back. She remembered walking along the shore with her father, collecting seashells, long before Adrian had entered her life and turned her world into a nightmare.
Julian walked up beside her, carrying a sleeping Hope in his arms. "Is it hard being back?"
"It was," Elena admitted, looking out at the glittering ocean waves. "But now... looking at the water, I feel like my father is finally at peace. He knows I'm safe. He knows his granddaughters are safe."
That evening, they built a small fire in the stone fireplace. As the cool sea breeze rustled the curtains, Julian sat on the floor, patiently teaching Elena how to navigate the complex infant nutrition routines he had mastered over the past few months.

"You really are an incredible father," Elena said, watching how gently his large hands handled the tiny baby bottles.
Julian paused, looking up at her with a quiet sincerity. "When I first took them from that clinic, I was terrified. I had spent my whole life managing shipping routes and corporate strategies. I didn't know anything about babies. But the moment I held them, I knew my purpose had changed. They saved me, Elena, just as much as I saved them."
