Chapter 5: Unraveling the Web

While peace had returned to the nursery, a storm was brewing in the legal world. Early the next morning, Julian met with his top legal team in the manor's library. Elena joined them, wrapped in a comfortable wool cardigan, holding a warm cup of tea provided by Clara.

Spread across the large oak desk were medical records, wire transfer receipts, and sworn affidavits from nurses at the private facility where Elena had been kept.

"Adrian Vance isn't just guilty of fraud and kidnapping," explained Arthur Pendelton, Julian’s chief attorney. "We have traced the financial trail of his firm. He was using the threat of keeping Miss Elena isolated to blackmail her father’s estate into signing over coastal land deeds."

Elena set her cup down, her eyes widening. "My father? He passed away two months ago... Adrian told me his heart failed."

"Your father died of a broken heart because Adrian convinced him you had fled the country to avoid family debts," Julian said quietly, taking Elena’s hand. "Adrian intercepted your father's letters and blocked your calls. He systematically destroyed every bridge between you and the people who loved you."

A heavy silence settled over the room. The sheer scale of Adrian’s cruelty was staggering. He had not merely lied; he had constructed an elaborate prison of isolation around Elena to strip her of her family, her wealth, and her children.

"We have enough to file criminal charges immediately," Arthur noted, tapping the files. "The footage from the hotel ballroom last night, combined with these medical records, will ensure an arrest warrant is issued by noon."

Julian looked at Elena, giving her hand a supportive squeeze. "It’s time to take your life back, Elena."
