Chapter 3 - The Confession of a Liar

"You always were entirely too smart for your own good, Julian," Elena whispered, her voice losing all its previous hysteria and adopting a terrifying, calculated calmness that sent chills down the spines of the listening guests.

Julian stared at her in utter disbelief, watching as the frightened bride transformed into a cold, calculating stranger right before his eyes.

"Why?" Julian choked out, the single word carrying the weight of a shattered three-year relationship built entirely on elaborate, carefully constructed lies.

"Because your grandfather’s will stipulated that the entire estate passes directly to the direct bloodline, and those two infants in the aisle represent the only obstacles standing between me and absolute financial ruin," Elena replied smoothly, stepping toward him with a chilling lack of remorse.

The wedding guests began backing away in horror, realizing they were trapped in the middle of a deadly family inheritance war orchestrated by a woman wearing a twenty-thousand-dollar wedding gown.

"You planned to have my sister's children killed?" Julian asked, his voice shaking with a rage so profound it bordered on catatonia.

"Not just them, darling," Elena laughed lightly, a sickening sound that bounced off the high vaulted ceilings. "You were scheduled to have a very unfortunate, fatal hunting accident on our honeymoon next week."

Grandmother stepped forward, leaning heavily on her cane, her ancient eyes flashing with vindictive triumph.

"I tried to warn you about her pedigree, Julian, but you were too blinded by her blonde hair and expensive European charm to look at her financial background," the old woman scolded bitterly.

Julian looked down at the little girl in the aisle, who was now gazing up at him with tear-stained eyes that matched his own in shape and color.

"What is your name, sweetheart?" Julian asked softly, ignoring Elena entirely as he knelt down on the ruined flower petals to be at eye level with the child.

"Maya," the little girl whispered, sniffling as she reached out a small, trembling hand to touch the silver medallion resting in his palm.

As Maya’s fingers brushed against the cold metal, a sudden click echoed from within the secret compartment of the medallion, popping the silver casing wide open to reveal a hidden microchip taped securely inside.

Julian’s eyes widened in sheer astonishment as he pulled the tiny chip free from the heirloom, realizing it contained every single financial document and offshore bank transfer proving Elena’s entire murderous conspiracy.

Elena lunged forward like a striking viper, desperate to snatch the microchip out of his hand before he could read the data.
