Chapter 13 - The Global Broadcast

A sharp, high-pitched electronic tone echoed through the subterranean bunker, instantly silencing Arthur Vance’s smug smile. The towering server racks around them flickered violently, their flashing green lights turning a harsh, warning amber as auxiliary cooling fans whined to a deafening pitch.

"What have you done?" Arthur snarled, lunging forward with a rare flash of raw panic, his grandfatherly facade instantly shattering.

Julian held the satellite transmitter high, his dark eyes burning with unyielding fury. "I didn't just override your local firewall, Uncle Arthur. This device is directly linked to the Department of Justice’s primary investigative portal. Every single encrypted file, offshore ledger, and human trial log stored on these servers is currently being streamed live to federal servers nationwide."

Vivienne shrieked, dropping her crystal glass of scotch. It shattered against the concrete floor in a spray of amber liquid and shards. "You insane bastard! You’ve destroyed us all!"

"Julian, stop it!" Beatrice screamed, lunging toward him with a concealed tactical knife, but before she could cross the distance, the heavy steel vault door behind Arthur Vance shuddered violently.

Loud, coordinated impacts slammed against the exterior steel. Thump. Thump. Thump.

"Federal Law Enforcement! Open the door!" a booming voice echoed through the reinforced corridors, followed by the deafening crack of a breaching charge.

The massive steel vault door blew inward in a cloud of thick smoke and flying metal fragments, tearing off its reinforced hinges and slamming flat against the server racks. Through the settling dust, a phalanx of federal marshals in tactical gear poured into the bunker, their weapons raised and locked directly onto Arthur Vance, Vivienne, and Beatrice.

"Arthur Vance, you are under arrest for corporate conspiracy, human experimentation, and domestic terrorism," the lead federal commander announced, his voice echoing off the concrete walls as he strode forward and slammed heavy steel handcuffs onto Arthur’s wrists.

Arthur offered no resistance, his face turning an ash-gray as he was forced to his knees. He cast one final, venomous glare toward Julian and Clara before being hauled away toward the exit.

Clara watched the guards drag the architects of her nightmare away, her legs finally giving out completely. She slid down the concrete wall, burying her face in her hands as silent, exhausted tears finally broke free—not of fear this time, but of overwhelming, unimaginable relief.

Julian dropped the satellite transmitter and knelt beside her, gently pulling her into his arms and resting her head against his shoulder. "It’s over, Clara. You’re safe."

"My mom..." Clara whispered against his tailored suit jacket. "Is she... can we go see her now?"

Julian nodded, pulling her gently to her feet. "My medical detail already transferred her to a secure federal hospital wing twenty minutes ago. She’s awake, Clara. And she’s asking for you."

They turned toward the exit, stepping past the chaos of the arresting marshals and walking out into the newly cleared transit tunnel. But as they reached the armored SUV waiting at the edge of the platform, Julian’s encrypted dashboard console suddenly chimed with a high-priority incoming message, displaying a single, chilling phrase from an unknown sender.
