Chapter 9: The Confession
Julian looked at the sniper dot on his chest, then at the police cruisers surrounding the tarmac. The gun slipped from his numb fingers, clattering against the wet concrete.
Two federal agents forced him to his knees, clamping steel cuffs behind his back.
As they dragged him past Eleanor, Julian glared up with bloodshot eyes. "How did he find you? He was just a street rat! How did he know where to sit?!"
Eleanor looked down at him with cold pity.
"Because love leaves a trail, Julian. Rosa loved that boy enough to protect him for seven years without taking a single dime. You had millions, and you couldn't buy a shred of humanity."
Julian was shoved into the back of a squad car, the door slamming shut on his empire forever.
