Chapter 15

The grand ballroom of the Moretti estate was bathed in warm, golden candlelight, filled with the soft, melodic strains of a string quartet playing a gentle classical waltz. There were no underworld bosses, no corporate criminals, and no frantic creditors in attendance. Only trusted friends, Mrs. Gable, Harrison Brooks, and the loyal members of Luca’s inner security detail who had guarded their lives through the darkest storms. The room was decorated with cascading arrangements of white orchids and autumn roses, creating an atmosphere of pure, transcendent peace.

Elena stood before the antique full-length mirror in the bridal suite, adjusting the folds of her sweeping, elegant ivory silk gown. She looked at her reflection, marveling at the transformation. The bruised, terrified woman in the hospital gown holding a baby in a blue-and-white striped blanket felt like a lifetime away. Today, she stood as a radiant bride, her spirit unbroken, her heart entirely free. Resting on a velvet cushion nearby was the small wooden rabbit they had bought in the village, a silent testament to the simple, normal life they had fought so hard to secure.

A soft knock sounded at the door, and Luca walked into the room. He wore a tailored black tuxedo with a crisp white shirt, looking every bit the formidable commander of his world, yet his dark eyes softened instantly the moment they landed on Elena. He stopped in his tracks, breath catching slightly as he took in her breathtaking elegance.

“You look extraordinary,” Luca murmured, walking across the room with measured steps until he stood right before her. He reached out, his warm fingers gently tracing her cheek—not over a bruise, but over smooth, glowing skin—before resting softly against her jaw.

“You saved me in the darkest place I’ve ever known, Luca,” Elena whispered, placing her hands over his, looking up into the steady, unwavering eyes that had become her true north. “You gave me a life I never dared to dream was possible.”

“You saved yourself the moment you refused to break, Elena,” Luca replied, his voice dropping into a tender register meant only for her. “I merely gave you the walls to let you flourish. Now, let’s go start our real life.”

Hand in hand, they walked out of the suite and descended the sweeping mahogany staircase together. As they entered the ballroom, the string quartet swelled into a joyous, resonant melody, and the assembled guests turned to applaud. In the corner of the room, cradled peacefully in a comfortable bassinet draped with a familiar blue-and-white striped blanket, their baby slept soundly, completely unaware of the battles fought to protect her slumber. Luca pulled Elena close into his arms, leading her into the center of the polished hardwood floor as the music enveloped them entirely. They spun slowly beneath the cascading candlelight, two souls forged in fire who had finally found their eternal sanctuary, wrapped in a love that nothing in this world could ever shatter.
