Chapter 15: A Legacy of Love

Fifteen years later, the Hayes estate was alive with laughter and music. It was a warm summer evening, and the backyard garden was in full bloom, practically overflowing with sunflowers.
Sarah sat on the patio, silver streaking her brown hair, a serene smile on her face. Beside her, a 21-year-old Lily, radiant and confident, poured them both a glass of iced tea. Lily had just graduated college with a degree in social work, determined to help children navigate the foster system that had once terrified her.
""Do you remember when we first planted these?"" Lily asked, gesturing to the massive sunflowers swaying in the breeze.
""I do,"" Sarah said softly, taking her daughter’s hand. ""You asked me why we put seeds in the dark.""
