Chapter 13: A New Normal

Months turned into a year. The sanctuary flourished, saving hundreds of animals and helping dozens of children. Arthur had stepped down as CEO, taking a position as Chairman of the Board so he could work remotely from the sanctuary's offices.
His house was no longer a quiet, sterile museum. It was chaotic. There were muddy paw prints on the hardwood, toys scattered on the rugs, and the constant smell of baked goods.
Arthur realized that the ""perfect"" life he had tried to build with Elena was a prison. This messy, loud, emotional reality was freedom.
