The next morning, Arthur drove Clara and Lily to the outskirts of town. He pulled up to a set of massive iron gates. Above them read: The Mayia & Lily Haven for Rescues.
Clara gasped, covering her mouth with her hands as they drove into the sprawling, beautiful campus. ""Arthur... what is this?""
""It's yours,"" Arthur said, handing her a thick leather folder containing the deed and the operational trust. ""You're the new executive director. I sold the ring. I figured the money should do something beautiful instead of something ugly.""
Clara threw her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder. Arthur held her tight, realizing he hadn't felt this complete in his entire life.
