Chapter 15

The evening sun dipped below the horizon, painting the ocean in brilliant shades of violet, amber, and deep indigo. Inside their coastal home, the house was finally quiet. Little Leo was fast asleep in his crib upstairs, his gentle breathing filling the nursery with pure tranquility.

Clara sat on the wide wooden deck overlooking the ocean, wrapped in a thick cashmere shawl. A warm mug of chamomile tea rested between her hands. The screen door slid open quietly, and Luca stepped out onto the deck, carrying a second mug of tea. He walked over, handing it to her before leaning against the wooden railing, staring out at the rolling waves under a canopy of emerging stars.

"It's peaceful here," Luca murmured, taking a slow sip of his tea.

"It's more than peaceful," Clara replied, sliding her hand into his large, calloused palm. "It's a masterpiece."

Luca turned his head, looking down at her with an expression of profound contentment. The scars of his past life were gone, replaced by the warmth of a family he had fought tooth and nail to protect and cherish. He set his mug down on the railing and pulled Clara gently into his arms, holding her close against the cool ocean breeze.

"We wrote our own ending, Clara," Luca whispered softly, pressing his lips to her forehead.

"No, Luca," Clara replied, resting her head against his steady, beating heart as the distant sound of the waves hummed a lullaby to the night. "We wrote our beginning."
