The jury deliberation took less than four hours.
Guilty on all counts: Grand Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit Fraud, Elder Endangerment, and Obstruction of Justice.
Marcus Sterling was sentenced to twelve years in federal prison with complete forfeiture of assets. Chloe Vance received an eight-year sentence with mandatory restitution to community elder-care programs.
As Chloe was led away through the side exit, she caught Julian's eye in the gallery. For the first time, her face bore no arrogance, no anger—only the terrifying realization of total ruin. Julian offered no smirk, no triumphant nod. He simply held his mother’s hand and walked out into the sunlight.
Outside the courthouse, dozens of microphones were thrust into Julian’s face.
"Mr. Vance! Do you feel justice was served today?" a reporter shouted.
Julian paused, stepping up to the microphones. "Justice in a courtroom is the bare minimum. Real justice happens when we ensure that the most vulnerable people in our homes—our elders, our domestic workers, the quiet voices behind closed doors—are never rendered invisible."
