Chapter 2: The Blue Sewing Box**

Dr. Harrison arrived within twenty minutes, his weathered face solemn as he checked Evelyn’s vitals and dressed her bruises. Evelyn was dehydrated and severely malnourished, her body bearing witness to systematic cruelty masked beneath designer decor.

Meanwhile, Julian walked slowly up the winding staircase toward the attic room. Maria followed three paces behind, clutching a small brass key.

"She kept your mother locked up here whenever guests weren't around, Mr. Vance," Maria whispered, her hands trembling. "She told us that if anyone spoke a word, she would have our families deported. But last night... I saw the sewing box."

In the corner of the small, drafty room sat an antique blue sewing box—a gift Julian had carved for his mother when he was twelve. He lifted the tarnished clasp.

Inside lay dozens of unopened letters Julian had sent over the past year, all stamped *Return to Sender* or intercepted before delivery. Beneath them were medical prescription pads, forged bank transfer authorizations draining Evelyn's personal savings, and a legal dossier titled *Conservatorship of Evelyn Vance*.

Chloe hadn't just mistreated his mother; she was actively engineering Evelyn’s legal declaration of incompetence to seize control of the Vance Family Trust.

And the co-signer listed on the unauthorized transfer requests was a name Julian recognized instantly: Marcus Sterling, his firm’s chief financial auditor and closest college friend.
