CHAPTER 10: Arthur’s Final Move
The night before the Carnegie Hall finals, Julian received a summons to the city's district attorney’s office. The criminal investigation into Arthur Vance’s foundation had reached its zenith.
“We have enough evidence to indict your father for fraud, embezzlement, and intentional child endangerment,” Assistant District Attorney Martinez explained, sliding an indictment folder across the table. “However, Arthur’s legal team is proposing a settlement. He will surrender all board seats, transfer fifty-one percent of Vance Enterprises voting stock directly to Lily, and sign a full confession, under one condition.”
“What condition?” Julian asked sharply.
“You do not testify against him in open court, and the medical records remain sealed under an NDA,” Martinez replied. “He wants to save his public legacy. If you reject the deal, this goes to a brutal public trial. Lily will have to testify on the stand about her years in the state home.”
Julian looked at the papers, his jaw clenched tight. Arthur was still trying to buy his way out of hell with corporate shares. He wanted to shield himself at the expense of a public spectacle.

Julian took a deep breath. “Keep the indictment active. I don't want his dirty money, and I will never let him muzzle the truth. But let my daughter play tomorrow night first. After that, justice will take its course.”
