Chapter 7 - The Chromosome Blueprint

Clara stepped forward, her burgundy suit jacket brushing against the metal tray as she took the cream-colored document from Chloe’s trembling fingers.
Her eyes scanned the complex genetic mapping printed by the lab. The sequence identifiers were clear, categorized, and meticulously cross-referenced. There was Julian’s marker, faint and secondary, but dominating the primary paternal slot was a string of alphanumeric codes Clara recognized from Arthur's private medical files.
It was true. Every horrifying word Julian had spoken was verified by the cold, unyielding data on the page.
"Arthur..." Clara breathed out, the name tasting like poison. "He bypassed the natural lineage entirely. He used a dormant sample from his own medical preservation file stored at the Vance Institute."
Chloe looked up, her brown eyes flashing with a fierce, protective fire that defied her exhaustion.
"Your husband stole my future, Clara," Chloe said, her voice dropping into a dangerous whisper. "He used me as an incubator for a man who has been dead for three years. And your son helped him do it."
"Julian didn't know," Clara defended automatically, though the words felt hollow even to her own ears. "He couldn't have known."
"He knew enough to run," Henderson interrupted, sliding his hands into his coat pockets. "Security just updated the front desk. Julian didn't stay in the garage. He abandoned his vehicle and managed to exit through the loading dock on the lower level."
Clara turned sharply to face the lawyer. "Where is he going?"
"Back to the estate," Henderson replied calmly. "There is a second vault in the basement study. Arthur left a final video log intended to be opened only when the genetic verification was complete. And based on these papers, the verification is now complete."
Sarah crossed her arms, her professional demeanor unshaken by the lawyer's intimidation tactics.
"You aren't taking this child anywhere," Sarah said firmly. "I'm calling hospital administration and filing an emergency protective order for the mother and infant."

Before Sarah could reach the phone on the wall, the heavy double doors of the maternity room swung open with a loud bang, and two armed hospital security guards rushed in, followed by a frantic hospital administrator holding a red folder.
