Chapter 6 - The Stolen Blueprint

The hospital room seemed to tilt on its axis as Julian’s confession echoed through the receiver and hung heavily in the air.
Clara gripped the phone so tightly her knuckles turned white. "What did you say, Julian? Repeat that."
"They aren't my genes, Mom," Julian whispered, his voice breaking into a ragged sob on the other end of the line. "Arthur didn't use my genetic material for the fertility trust. He used his own. That baby... she isn't your granddaughter. She's your sister."
The silence that followed was absolute, heavier than any physical weight Clara had ever borne.
Across the room, Chloe watched Clara’s face drain of all color, reading the devastating truth in the older woman's horrified micro-expressions.
"He lied to me," Chloe whispered, her voice a hollow shell of sound. "Julian told me we were a match. He told me his family wanted to help us build a future."
Clara slowly lowered the phone to her ear, unable to speak, unable to process the grotesque labyrinth of manipulation her late husband had engineered from the grave. Arthur Vance had manipulated his own son, deceived a vulnerable young woman, and orchestrated the birth of a child through unethical, hidden protocols designed to cheat mortality itself.
Mr. Henderson stepped forward, his face completely devoid of surprise, as if he had known the dark secret all along.
"The legal framework of the trust is quite clear," Henderson said smoothly, his voice cutting through the silence. "If the genetic profile matches Arthur's primary directives, the child remains under the jurisdiction of the estate, regardless of the maternity arrangements."
Sarah moved instinctively, positioning herself between Henderson and the bed, her nurse's scrubs rustling as she glared at the lawyer with unconcealed disgust.
"Get out of this room right now," Sarah ordered, her voice trembling with restrained fury. "This is a medical facility, not a testing ground for your dead master's twisted experiments."
Chloe looked down at the sleeping infant in her arms, tears streaming silently down her cheeks. She reached out and grabbed the opened envelope from the tray table, pulling out the detailed genetic breakdown.

"Look at the chromosomes," Chloe said, her voice terrifyingly calm as she thrust the paper toward Clara. "Look at what they did to my baby."
