Chapter 8: The Aftermath**

The news of the Vance Foundation scandal dominated national headlines for weeks. Victoria and Sterling were denied bail due to flight risk, while forensic accountants dismantled their network of fraudulent shell companies.
At the Vance estate, an overwhelming sense of relief settled over the staff. Without Victoria’s toxic presence, the mansion felt bright and welcoming for the first time in years.
On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, Julian called a general staff meeting in the ballroom.
"I want to apologize to all of you," Julian announced sincerely. "For years, I buried myself in work and failed to notice the toxic environment allowed in this house. That ends today. Starting this month, everyone’s wages are being increased by thirty percent, and the estate will fully cover comprehensive healthcare for you and your dependents."
Applause erupted across the room. Mrs. Gable wiped a tear from her eye, while several younger housekeepers hugged one another in disbelief.
After the staff dispersed, Julian approached Emily on the terrace overlooking the gardens.
