Chapter 5: Digital Ghosts**

By Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Gable’s nephew, Marcus, had successfully extracted the contents of the corrupted drive. Julian, Emily, and Marcus gathered in Julian’s private home office, staring at the glowing monitor.
The files were damning. They contained encrypted spreadsheets detailing systematic siphoning of over four million dollars from the charity, along with voice memos recorded by Victoria discussing kickbacks with a corrupt board director named Arthur Sterling.
"This is extraordinary," Julian said, his jaw tight with controlled fury. "Arthur Sterling was my father's closest confidant. He has been manipulating the board's voting bloc from within."
"There’s more," Marcus added, clicking open an audio file.
Victoria’s recorded voice filled the room: *"Once the auditor flags the Vance charity, we drop the ring evidence. Emily will look desperate and guilty. A poor immigrant with an ill mother is the perfect scapegoat. The public will buy it in a heartbeat."*
Hearing her life reduced to a cruel narrative sent tears stinging behind Emily's eyes.

Julian turned to her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "They tried to use your circumstances as a weapon against you. Tomorrow, we turn their arrogance into their undoing."
