Damian watched his empire dissolve without a single regret. He used his remaining personal funds to pay severance to his mid-level employees and settle all outstanding supplier debts. When the dust settled, the luxury penthouse, the sports cars, and the socialite invitations were gone.

He rented a small, unheated garage in Astoria, rolling up his sleeves to return to what he had loved before the money took over: hands-on electrical engineering. He began repairing and retrofitting solar batteries for local small businesses and neighborhood community centers.

One crisp Tuesday afternoon, he received a phone call from a local community center director, Mrs. Ramos.

""Damian? We have a local landscape designer installing a rooftop greenhouse for our youth education program. She needs a low-voltage solar irrigation system designed, but our budget is nearly zero. Would you be willing to look at it pro-bono?""

Damian wiped grease from his hands with a rag. ""Of course, Mrs. Ramos. Send me the address.""

When Damian arrived at the rooftop of the Astoria Community Center the following morning, carrying his toolbox, he stopped dead at the top of the stairs.
