Chapter 10: Justice without Blood

Instead of visiting his old underworld enforcers, Dante arranged a meeting at a secure government facility in Rome with Inspector General Rossi—a legendary, uncorrupted magistrate of the anti-mafia division.
Dante walked into the interrogation room alone, placing a thick leather binder on the steel table. Inside were the bank records, encrypted communications, and signed testimonies extracted from the San Marino deposit box.
Rossi, an elderly man with sharp silver eyes, flipped through the first few pages and stared at Dante in utter disbelief.
""This is enough to dismantle the entire northern syndicate,"" Rossi said slowly. ""Marco Bellini, the Vance syndicate, three senators... you're handing us their entire network.""
""I am,"" Dante said calmly.
""You know what this means for you, Dante? You will have to testify in closed court. You will lose your immunity, and you will be placed under the witness protection program.""
""I don't care about my immunity,"" Dante replied evenly. ""I only have two conditions.""
""Name them.""
""First, complete legal guardianship of my daughter, Chiara Dante, recognized under a clean identity. Second, every cent of my liquidated estate goes directly to the foundation for victim rehabilitation. I want nothing.""
Rossi studied the man sitting opposite him. He had spent forty years chasing ruthless men, but he had never seen an empire builder voluntarily surrender everything to save his soul.

Rossi extended his hand across the table. ""Deal.""
