Chapter 11 - The Brother’s Betrayal

The glowing screen of the smartphone illuminated the empty panic room with a harsh, unyielding light. Victor stared at the live feed, watching his younger brother, Julian, step effortlessly into the waiting cabin of a twin-engine corporate helicopter parked on the private pad outside. Julian wore a pristine gray overcoat, his expression calm and composed as he gently settled the infant into a specialized carrier seat beside him.

The blades of the helicopter began to spin with a deafening roar, whipping up a violent downdraft that rattled the reinforced glass of the panic room windows.

Victor gripped his firearm so tightly his knuckles turned chalk white. The realization of the absolute, calculated depth of the betrayal struck him harder than any physical blow ever could. It wasn't just an external corporate raid or a bitter divorce; it was a premeditated family coup orchestrated by the one person Victor had protected, funded, and trusted above all others.

He turned on his heel, racing out of the panic room and back down the corridor toward the master staircase, ignoring the security guards who were now rushing up to meet him.

"Sir! We secured the sub-basement and the intruder!" the lead guard shouted over the roar of the helicopter engines spinning up outside. "What are your orders?"

"Scramble the interceptor jet on my private hangar pad immediately!" Victor roared back, his voice cutting through the noise with absolute authority. "Lock down the airspace over the estate and notify federal aviation control that a child has been abducted from this property!"

"Sir, the airspace over the city is restricted at night, and Julian holds joint administrative clearance over the hangar systems," the guard warned urgently. "We can't launch without his biometric authorization or a direct override from your master console."

Victor didn't hesitate. He pulled out his phone, bypassing the locked corporate network to access the direct manual override terminal hardwired into his private underground bunker.

"Follow me to the basement control room," Victor commanded, sprinting down the grand staircase toward the lower levels of the mansion.

As they descended into the subterranean levels, the air grew cool and damp. The private control room was a fortress of multi-screen monitors and encrypted mainframes, glowing with amber and blue data feeds. Victor slammed his hand against the biometric scanner by the heavy steel door, overriding the system lock with his own master credentials.

The heavy door slid open with a hiss. Victor stepped inside, heading straight for the master override console to ground his brother's helicopter before it could lift off the pad.
