CHAPTER 11: Rebuilding the Foundation

With the Vance empire facing federal indictments and the corrupt board members removed, a serene calm descended upon the Sterling estate for the first time in months. The paparazzi disappeared, replaced by the quiet rustle of autumn leaves and the laughter of a child playing on the manicured lawns.

Julian spent his mornings not on Wall Street calls, but teaching Valentina how to ride a small bicycle on the paved garden pathways.

Marisa watched from the sunlit veranda, holding a cup of herbal tea. For weeks, she had expected the old world of wealth to snap back like a trap, but Julian had proven every single day that his priorities had permanently shifted.

One afternoon, Julian walked up the veranda steps, wiping sweat from his forehead with a towel, a bright smile on his face.

"She figured out the brakes," Julian said proudly, pointing toward Valentina, who was proudly parking her bike next to a rose bush.

"You're spoiling her, you know," Marisa said softly, though her eyes were filled with warmth.

"I’m catching up on five years of lost time," Julian replied, leaning against the railing beside her. "I have a lot of birthdays and bedtime stories to make up for."
