Chapter 9: The Power of Truth**

Before the second vehicle could strike, a deafening siren echoed across the span of the bridge. Flashing red and blue lights pierced the sheet of rain from the opposite side of the river.
Marcus had not come alone; he had coordinated with the Pennsylvania State Police tactical unit through an encrypted radio channel five miles back. Four state cruisers barricaded the bridge exit, spike strips deployed across the lanes.
The second SUV screeched to a halt, surrounded by state troopers with weapons drawn. The private contractors inside raised their hands through the tinted glass, realizing their corporate immunity did not extend past state lines during an armed assault.
Victoria stepped out of the truck into the pouring rain, holding Lily securely in her arms. Water soaked through her black coat, but her eyes were steady as Marcus escorted them directly into the lead cruiser.
"It's over, Victoria," Marcus said, breathing heavily. "Justice Carter is waiting at the federal courthouse in Allentown. She’s already reviewed the ledger files we sent via satellite."
Lily looked through the cruiser’s rain-streaked window at the trapped mercenaries. She didn't look with hatred or triumph, but with the quiet clarity of a child who finally realized that monsters were just men in expensive suits.
"Are we going home now, Mommy?" she asked softly.
May you like
"Almost, baby," Victoria smiled, wiping the rain from Lily’s forehead. "Just one more room to walk through."
