Within forty-eight hours, the Sterling Foundation was placed under federal receivership. The grand mansion with its crystal chandeliers and polished marble floors was seized by marshals, its heavy iron gates chained shut with federal padlocks.
News vans lined the perimeter of the estate as Arthur Sterling was led out in handcuffs, his expensive suit replaced by a standard prison-issue windbreaker. "The board approved the full restitution fund for the families he exploited," Marcus added. "Lily’s trust is secure, managed by an independent ethics panel until she’s twenty-five."
