Chapter 15 - Justice and Dawn

Genevieve stopped, her hand resting on the heavy bronze door handle. She slowly turned around to face the top of the courthouse steps.

Surrounded by federal marshals and flanked by a team of defensive corporate lawyers, Chloe Sullivan stood on the landing. Her silk designer dress was rumpled, her makeup smeared, and her eyes wide with a frantic, unhinged desperation. Bail had been posted just minutes prior through a loophole in her family's emergency trust, but it was already too late for her to salvage anything.

"You can't do this, Genevieve!" Chloe shrieked, taking a stumbling step down toward her. "You're destroying everything we built! Vance Global belongs to us!"

Genevieve didn't flinch. She took a slow, measured step forward, looking down at Chloe with a calm, unshakeable power that made the desperate socialite recoil.

"You didn't build anything, Chloe," Genevieve said, her voice carrying clearly across the silent, camera-filled plaza. "You built an empire on forged signatures, stolen patents, and human misery. And today, the foundation finally collapsed."

Behind Chloe, two federal marshals stepped forward, placing heavy steel handcuffs securely around her wrists—the exact same heavy cuffs Genevieve had worn just days prior. Chloe let out a sudden, ugly sob, dropping her head as the cameras flashed relentlessly, immortalizing her total, unmitigated ruin.

Marcus stood quietly beside Genevieve, his intense blue eyes softening into a warm, respectful smile. "Your father is waiting inside, Gen. Time to take back what’s yours."

Genevieve nodded. She turned back toward the open vault, pulling the heavy brass key free from the lock.

Inside the vault, resting on a velvet-lined mahogany pedestal, sat the original leather-bound family ledger detailing the true, untainted history of Berlinsky Holdings. Beside it lay the digital keys to restore her foundation, her name, and her life.

Chris Berlinsky placed a warm, steady hand on his daughter’s shoulder, his eyes shining with unshed tears of profound pride and vindication. "Welcome home, Genevieve."

Genevieve reached out, her fingers brushing the worn leather of the ledger. The ten-year sentence imposed by a corrupt judge had been erased, the conspirators were locked behind bars facing decades in a federal supermax, and her family’s legacy was finally restored to its rightful hands.

As the heavy courthouse doors closed behind them, shutting out the noise of the city and locking the past away forever, Genevieve took her first truly deep, unrestricted breath in years, knowing that the dawn of her new life had finally begun.
