Chapter 13: Passing the Torch

On Leo’s eighteenth birthday, Arthur gathered the family in the grand library of the brownstone. The room was decorated with warm fairy lights, and a large photo frame hung above the fireplace showing Arthur, Clara, Leo, and Lily laughing together at the beach.

Arthur pulled a small velvet box from his pocket and placed it in Leo’s hands.

Inside lay a fine gold pocket watch, engraved with the words: “To Leo—My son in every way that matters. Lead with love.”

Leo ran his thumb over the engraved inscription, his voice thick with emotion. ""Arthur... I don't know how to thank you for everything you've given us.""

""You don't have to thank me, Leo,"" Arthur said, his voice soft with age and affection. ""You gave me the greatest gift a man could ever ask for—a reason to live, a family to cherish, and a legacy that will outlast us all. You have grown into a man of honor and courage. I couldn't be prouder.""

Clara walked over, wrapping her arms around both of them, while a ten-year-old Lily squeezed into the middle, filling the room with warm laughter.
