Chapter 12: Lessons in Grace

As the years passed, the brownstone filled with endless laughter, milestones, and cherished memories. Leo grew into a bright, compassionate young man, inheriting Arthur’s sharp mind and unwavering sense of justice.

Every Saturday morning, Arthur and Leo would spend hours working together at the Haven. Leo personally oversaw the youth mentorship programs, helping children from underprivileged backgrounds gain access to scholarships and safe housing.

One afternoon, a teenager was caught attempting to steal a loaf of bread from the display case. Security rushed to intervene, but Leo quickly held up his hand, asking them to step back.

Leo walked over to the nervous teenager, who was trembling with anger and embarrassment. Instead of scolding him, Leo took two fresh loaves of bread, placed them in a brown paper bag, and handed them to the young boy.

""Take it,"" Leo said gently. ""If you're hungry, you never have to steal here. Sit down at that table, and let me get you a warm meal.""

The boy looked at Leo in disbelief, his eyes softening as he wiped away a stray tear. Standing in the doorway of his office, Arthur watched the interaction with quiet pride. The seeds of mercy planted years ago had blossomed into a forest of grace.
