Chapter 9: The Reckoning

Julian froze, slowly turning around. Arthur stood flanked by two armed security officers and Detective Miller from the Chicago Police Department’s Financial Crimes Division.
"Uncle, I was just—"
"Save it," Arthur interrupted, tossing a thick dossier onto the center table. "Every shell corporation in the Cayman Islands. Every bribe paid to Clara's former business partners. Every forged signature on her trust account."
Julian’s arrogance melted into sheer terror. "That's... that's fabricated! She was unstable, Arthur! I was trying to protect the company!"
"Clara lived in a homeless shelter while you bought penthouses with her stolen money," Arthur said, his voice trembling with contained fury. "You didn't just steal from my family. You destroyed my daughter."
Detective Miller stepped forward, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "Julian Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny, corporate fraud, and conspiracy."
