Chapter 12: A Trip to the Past

On a crisp autumn afternoon, Arthur took Leo and Mia back to the street corner where their lives had changed forever: *La Maison Bakery*.

The bell above the door chimed as they stepped inside. The same clerk from months ago looked up, her jaw dropping as she recognized the immaculately dressed gentleman and the two healthy, glowing children beside him.

"Good afternoon," Arthur said pleasantly.

"Sir... I... I remember you," the clerk stammered, turning red with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry about how I acted that morning. I was having a bad day and—"

"Kindness shouldn't depend on your mood, miss," Leo spoke up softly but clearly. "A single piece of bread means the world when you have nothing."

Arthur handed the clerk an envelope. "This bakery is under new ownership. The building has been purchased by our foundation. You may keep your job, provided that from this day forward, no hungry soul is ever turned away from this door."

The clerk broke into tears of gratitude, nodding repeatedly.
