Chapter 8: A Boy’s Courage

Downstairs, Leo wandered through the massive library, mesmerized by rows of leather-bound books. He pulled out a volume on architecture, tracing sketches of glass skyscrapers with his fingertip.

"Quite an act you've put on," a cold voice sneered from the doorway.

Leo turned to see Julian standing there, a cruel smirk on his face.

"You think you're clever, kid?" Julian stepped closer, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "Enjoy the mansion while you can. Old men die. And when he does, you and your sister are going straight to the state orphanage."

Leo didn't shrink back. He straightened his small shoulders, meeting Julian's glare without flinching.

"My mama told me about bad men who hide behind expensive suits," Leo said firmly. "You look just like the ones she warned me about."

Julian’s face twisted in rage, raising a hand—

"Touch him, Julian, and you won't live to see sunset," Arthur’s voice boomed like thunder across the marble hall.
