Arthur locked himself in his private study and inserted the memory card into his encrypted laptop.
Files filled the screen: bank transfers, forged corporate signatures, and private investigator logs dating back eight years. Julian hadn't just waited for Clara to fail—he had actively sabotaged her architecture firm, drained her trust fund through fraudulent shell companies, and paid off landlords to ensure she ended up on the street.
Julian had methodically erased Clara from society to guarantee he remained Arthur's sole successor.
A knock on the door broke Arthur's fury. Dr. Reynolds entered, holding a sealed white envelope.
"The expedited results are in, Arthur," the doctor said quietly. "It's a 99.9% direct maternal match to Clara Vance. They are your grandchildren."
