Chapter 5: The Shadow at the Pier

The North Harbor terminal stood like a rusted fortress under the pouring midnight rain. Enormous cranes loomed against the stormy sky, loading shipping containers onto the massive cargo vessel *The Leviathan*.
Adrian watched through night-vision binoculars from the cab of an abandoned crane. Below, dozens of armed mercenaries patrolled the perimeter. In the center of the loading bay, a solitary shipping container was guarded by four men carrying submachine guns. Thermal imaging revealed dozens of warm silhouettes inside—trapped, shivering people.
Mia and Elena were safely tucked away under federal protection in an undisclosed safehouse upstate. Now, it was just Adrian and the ticking clock.
He slipped down the crane ladder, his dark rain gear blending into the shadows. He carried no firearms—only zip-ties, smoke canisters, and a directional signal jammer. His goal wasn't to slaughter his way through; it was to disrupt, expose, and liberate.
