Chapter 3: Digital Phantoms

The antique laptop on the wooden workbench hummed to life as Adrian plugged in the metallic USB. Lines of encrypted ledger files and grainy security feeds flooded the screen. Elena was right. The spreadsheets detailed container IDs, offshore shell accounts, and systematic bribes paid to city inspectors.
"He hid the primary server key under the floorboards because Julian threatened to go directly to federal prosecutors," Elena explained, leaning against the workbench. "Julian knew Victor’s men were watching every bank account and cloud drive."
Adrian opened a subfolder marked *Project Elysium*. A live video log popped up from three days prior. On screen was his younger brother, Julian—beaten, tied to a steel chair, but holding his chin high.
"If you're watching this, Adrian," Julian spoke into the hidden camera, his voice cracked with exhaustion, "don't come for revenge. Protect Mia. Protect the innocent lives Victor treats like freight. The shipping log 404-Bravo leaves tomorrow night. Stop the ship. Let the world know what he did."
The screen abruptly went black with static.
