Chapter 11

The heavy double doors of the conference room swung open wide, admitting two federal marshals in dark tactical vests accompanied by local detectives. The stark, professional presence of law enforcement instantly displaced the lingering remnants of high-society elegance that Clara had desperately tried to maintain for over half a decade.
Michael shrank back against the wall, holding his breath as the officers moved with practiced precision into the room. David stepped aside respectfully, nodding to the lead detective to confirm that cooperation was absolute.
Detective Vance—no relation to Clara, despite the unfortunate coincidence—stepped forward, holding a standard warrant folder. His eyes swept across the room, quickly assessing the players: Charlotte standing tall and resolute in her brown tank top and durable pants; Michael trembling in his bellhop uniform; and Clara collapsed in the mahogany chair, staring blankly at the floor.
"Charlotte Oniship Vale?" the detective asked, looking directly at the true heir.
"I am," Charlotte replied, her voice steady and clear.
"We received the decrypted server archives and financial forensics packet from your security detail. The federal judge has already signed the bench warrants based on the wire fraud and asset suppression evidence," the detective stated, holding up the paperwork. He then turned his attention toward Clara, stepping around the oak table. "Clara Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny, wire fraud, and corporate identity theft. You have the right to remain silent..."
Clara didn't scream, flail, or put up a physical fight. The sheer weight of the evidence and the suddenness of her downfall had entirely paralyzed her. As the cold steel of the handcuffs clicked around her wrists, she let out a long, shuddering breath, her rich velvet dress rustling pathetically as she was lifted from the chair by the officers.
She cast one final, lingering look toward Charlotte—a look not of anger, but of utter incomprehension, as if she still could not fathom how her carefully constructed empire had collapsed into dust within a matter of hours.
"Take her down to processing," Detective Vance instructed the junior officer, who gently guided Clara toward the exit. The heavy doors closed behind them with a muffled click, sealing her fate and ending her reign of usurpation once and for all.
Charlotte stood silently, watching the door close. She didn't smile or celebrate; her expression remained deeply focused, acknowledging that arresting Clara was only the first step in a massive rehabilitation process.

"Well handled, Ms. Vale," Detective Vance said, offering a respectful nod. "It’s not every day someone walks into their own stolen hotel with a federal-grade forensic audit already completed."
"When you spend ten years preparing to reclaim your birthright, Detective, you don't leave room for guesswork," Charlotte replied calmly.
