Chapter 10

The digital evidence displayed on Charlotte’s tablet painted a clear, devastating picture of systematic corporate sabotage. Michael leaned over the edge of the table, his eyes darting across the transaction logs with a mixture of professional awe and profound terror. He realized now how close he had come to spending the rest of his life behind bars for simply signing papers without reading the fine print.
"These wire destinations," Michael muttered, pointing a trembling finger at the screen. "They aren't just offshore shell companies. These routing numbers match the private accounts of the municipal zoning board members who approved the downtown expansion project three years ago."
Charlotte nodded slowly. "Bribery on top of fraud. Clara didn't just manage a hotel; she operated a criminal syndicate disguised as a luxury resort."
Clara slumped heavily into one of the oak chairs, the fight completely drained from her posture. The dark red velvet dress that had symbolized her power now looked like a theatrical costume for a play that had just been abruptly canceled. She stared blankly at the polished mahogany table, her breathing shallow and irregular.
"What do you want?" Clara asked, her voice hollow, devoid of its previous venom. "You have the deed. You have the servers. Do you want me in handcuffs? Is that your grand victory?"
"I don't operate on petty vengeance, Clara," Charlotte replied, her tone remaining completely clinical and detached. "I operate on justice and restoration. Every penny you siphoned from these accounts will be returned to the corporate treasury, starting with the liquidation of your personal assets, your residential properties, and your private collection of luxury vehicles."
"You’ll take everything," Clara whispered, a solitary tear finally breaking free from her eye, cutting a clean path through her immaculate makeup.
"I am taking back what was stolen," Charlotte corrected gently. "Nothing more, nothing less."
David cleared his throat, stepping closer to Charlotte. "Ms. Vale, the local authorities are already aware of the digital data upload we sent to the federal server mirror. Officers are downstairs in the lobby right now. They're waiting for your signal."

Charlotte looked at the tablet screen one last time before locking it and sliding it back into her leather handbag. She stood at full height, her athletic frame projecting absolute authority and calm control.
"Let them up, David," Charlotte instructed evenly. "It’s time to close the books on this chapter of the Oniship legacy."
