Chapter 13: The Whispering Cliff

On the fifth anniversary of Sarah’s passing, Daniel and ten-year-old Noah walked to the edge of the granite bluffs overlooking the Pacific.

The morning air was crisp and clear, the sea sparkling like a million shattered diamonds beneath the azure sky.

Noah carried a basket filled with fresh lavender sprigs gathered from their garden.

""Are you ready, Grandpa?"" Noah asked, looking up with his mother’s clear, intelligent hazel eyes.

""I'm ready, Noah,"" Daniel nodded.

Together, they stood at the edge of the cliff. One by one, they tossed the purple lavender sprigs into the updraft. The ocean wind caught the flowers, swirling them into the air before scattering them across the vast, deep blue of the Pacific.

""Thank you, Mommy,"" Noah shouted into the wind, his voice ringing with pure, unburdened love. ""We are doing great down here!""

Daniel smiled, wrapping his arm around Noah’s shoulders. The grief that had once threatened to consume his life had transformed into a deep, abiding river of gratitude.

They stood together on the rock, watching the flowers drift across the water until they vanished into the horizon.
