Chapter 7: The Unbreakable Defense

Julian looked at Harrington, then glanced at Maya, who met his gaze with absolute, unyielding confidence.

Julian reached into his briefcase and pulled out a slim, blue leather binder.

""Mr. Harrington,"" Julian said, his voice quiet, steady, and razor-sharp. ""Before you threaten my family with regulatory suppression, perhaps you should review the forensic audit of the Sterling Maritime Trust from 2020 to 2024.""

Harrington frowned. ""What audit?""

""The audit conducted by the International Maritime Integrity Commission,"" Julian explained calmly. ""During my four years in Geneva, my father believed I was simply managing regional shipping accounts. In reality, I discovered that thirty percent of the fleet's ballast water certifications were forged to bypass environmental clean-water treaties in the North Atlantic.""

Harrington’s junior partners visibly stiffened, their pens freezing over their legal pads.

""I kept the encrypted logbooks, Harrington,"" Julian continued, tapping the blue binder with his index finger. ""I didn't use them four years ago because I still believed my family possessed a shred of human decency. But if one more legal motion is filed against my children, or if another private investigator steps within fifty yards of my cottage in Cape Ann, this entire dossier goes directly to the Department of Justice and the Federal Maritime Commission.""

Harrington stared at the binder, the color slowly draining from his face. He knew that an environmental indictment of that magnitude would dismantle the Sterling shipping empire within ninety days.

""You would destroy your own father's legacy?"" Harrington whispered in disbelief.

""My father destroyed his own legacy the day he put a price tag on his grandchildren,"" Julian replied, standing up and buttoning his jacket. ""We are done here. Withdraw every motion by five o’clock, or make sure your defense team is ready for federal court on Monday.""

He took Maya’s hand, and they walked out of the high-rise, leaving the corporate titans sitting in the ruins of their own hubris.
