Chapter 1 - The Accusation Breaks “She struck Lily!”

Elena’s voice cut through the opulent living room like shattered glass, her finger trembling as she pointed directly at Clara.
The two uniformed police officers flanked Elena, their expressions hardened by the severity of the allegation.
Clara stood frozen near the grand piano, her brown hair pulled back neatly in its usual bun, her grey maid uniform suddenly feeling like prison stripes.
Tears streamed down Clara’s pale cheeks, blurring her vision as she shook her head in desperate denial.
“I didn't touch her, I swear I didn't,” Clara whispered, her voice cracking under the sheer weight of the false accusation.
David, standing nearby in his tailored navy blue suit, looked torn between the screaming woman he had called his wife for a decade and the gentle woman who had cared for his home.
Eight-year-old Lily buried her face deeper into her father’s shoulder, her pink dress rustling softly as she trembled against his chest.
“Daddy, check the camera,” Lily muffled against David’s jacket, her small fingers pointing toward the smart-home control panel mounted near the hallway archway.
David blinked, stepping away from his weeping daughter to tap the screen, activating the closed-circuit archives while the two officers watched closely.
The wall-mounted television flickered to life, casting a cold blue light across the tense room as the digital timestamp loaded the afternoon footage.
On the screen, the hallway angle clearly displayed Elena grabbing Lily by the shoulders, violently shoving the terrified child against the wainscoting before storming away.
Elena spun around to face the television, her face draining of all color as the undeniable proof played in harsh, high-definition reality.
One of the officers stepped forward, sliding a pair of steel handcuffs from his tactical belt with a metallic click that echoed loudly in the silence.
“You cannot arrest me!” Elena shrieked, her facade of righteous indignation shattering instantly as the cold steel approached her wrists.
David stared at the screen, then down at his daughter, the horrifying truth of his wife’s sociopathic nature finally dawning on him with crushing finality.

As the officer firmly gripped Elena’s arm and clamped the first cuff around her wrist, a loud knock echoed from the front door, interrupting the grim arrest.
