Chapter 11 - The Red and Blue Arrival

The wail of approaching sirens cut through the crisp morning air like a knife, bouncing off the tall pine trees that lined the Maple Ridge estate. The fixer’s calm exterior flickered for a split second as he glanced toward the main entrance gate. Through the wrought-iron bars, three marked state police cruisers swung smoothly onto the property, their red and blue emergency lights flashing violently against the white brick facade of the main house.

"That wasn't part of the protocol," one of the subordinate suits muttered, stepping back toward the open door of the black SUV.

"Stand down," the fixer ordered quietly, though his hand drifted slowly toward the inside pocket of his tailored jacket. "Do not reach for anything. Let local law enforcement handle the trespassers."

Julian stepped out from the main house doorway just as the first police cruiser skidded to a halt on the gravel driveway. He looked disheveled, his crisp white shirt stained with rust and dirt from the sub-basement door, but his expression remained stubbornly defiant. He raised his hands slightly, not in surrender, but in the practiced gesture of a man preparing to argue his case to a sympathetic judge.

"Officer! Thank God," Julian called out, striding toward the lead cruiser as an experienced state trooper stepped out, hand resting casually on his holster. "These individuals have broken into my private residence, assaulted my elderly mother’s caregiver, and attempted to steal proprietary corporate documents."

The trooper ignored Julian entirely, bypassing him to walk straight toward Clara and Maya. He clipped a small body camera to his chest pocket and tapped the recording activation button. "Are you Clara Vance?" the trooper asked, his voice steady and professional.

"Yes," Clara answered, her voice trembling slightly with adrenaline. "That man is my brother. He has been holding our mother under chemical sedation, embezzling from the family trust, and laundering funds through offshore accounts."

Julian’s face flushed a deep, mottled crimson. "She is delusional, Officer! Look at her—she was wielding a weapon in the kitchen just twenty minutes ago! She needs a psychiatric hold immediately."

Maya pulled out her federal badge and held it up directly in front of the trooper's face. "Special Agent Maya Lin, federal oversight division. I am executing a federal warrant for corporate fraud and elder abuse against Julian Vance. Place him in cuffs."

The trooper hesitated for a fraction of a second, looking between Julian’s tailored legal attire and Maya’s federal credentials, before gesturing to his partner to move in.
