Chapter 7: The Unraveling Truth**

David stared at the blue wax seal bearing his late wife’s initials. His hands shook as he broke the seal and unfolded the crisp parchment inside. As his eyes scanned the first few pages, the color drained entirely from his face.

"What is this?" he whispered, his voice trembling with disbelief.

"Mommy wanted you to have it," Clara cried, clinging to his sleeve. "Vanessa wants the money, Daddy! She’s going to send me away so she can take everything from you and Leo!"

The documents were clear: an irrevocable trust set up by Clara’s mother, Eleanor, stating that the entire family fortune and estate were tied directly to Clara’s legal custody. If Clara was sent away or placed in an institution, an independent board of trustees would immediately freeze all assets, stripping David of his executive power and Vanessa of every dime of her allowance. Furthermore, attached was a private investigator's report from two years prior, detailing Vanessa’s mounting debts and previous fraudulent claims before she had ever met David.

The door to the study burst open. Vanessa stood in the threshold, her eyes blazing as she saw the papers spread across the desk.

"David! Why is that brat not in bed?" Vanessa shouted, storming into the room. Then her gaze landed on the blue wax seal. Her face tightened with pure malice. "Where did you find that?"

David stood up slowly. For the first time in years, the defeated slouch in his shoulders disappeared. He looked at Vanessa not with fear, but with absolute disgust.

"You knew," David said, his voice deadly quiet. "You knew about the trust. You pretended to care about my grief, about my family, just to systematically dismantle us."

"David, don't be ridiculous, that's fabricated nonsense from a sick woman!" Vanessa spat, stepping forward to snatch the papers.

David slammed his hand down over the documents. "Get out of my house."
