"Mom, look at this," Clara whispered, her fingers hovering over the glowing terminal screen as the cryptographic ping repeated its rhythmic pulse every three seconds.
Elizabeth stepped closer, her eyes widening in sheer disbelief as she read the decryption key attached to the file. "That's Robert's private signature... the exact key he used to lock the core master vault before the accident."
David Vance hurried back into the room, seeing the tension on their faces. "What is it? We secured Pendelton and Marcus; the federal transport is already heading downtown."
"It's not over," Clara said, her voice dropping to an urgent whisper as the terminal began downloading a massive, encrypted data file directly from an unknown sub-oceanic server trench off the coast of Iceland. "My father's private server... it didn't burn down twelve years ago. It was redirected."
The download progress bar ticked upward with terrifying speed: 20%... 50%... 80%... 100%.
A single digital envelope popped onto the screen, bearing a video file labeled simply: To My Daughter, When You Find the Truth.
Clara pressed play, her hands trembling slightly as the screen flickered to life. The video showed her father, Robert Vance, sitting at a clean wooden desk in an unfamiliar room that looked like a high-tech subterranean laboratory, looking directly into the camera with a warm, knowing smile.
"If you're watching this, Clara, it means Pendelton's conspiracy has finally collapsed, and you have survived the storm," Robert's voice echoed warmly from the speaker, sounding as clear and vibrant as the day he died. "For twelve years, I had to let the world believe I was gone. It was the only way to draw out the traitors within our own ranks and expose the global syndicate Pendelton was building."
Elizabeth covered her mouth with her hands, tears streaming freely down her cheeks as she stared at the screen, hearing her husband's voice after all this time. "Robert... you're alive..."
"I had to go underground to protect our core technology from being weaponized against humanity," Robert continued in the video. "Clara, the green-energy grid isn't just a commercial venture. It's a global stabilization network. And right now, the final override key is hidden inside the cornerstone of the original family estate—the exact place where Victoria threw you to the floor tonight."
Before Clara could process the revelation, a high-frequency emergency alarm began wailing throughout the sub-basement vaults, and the screen flashed a terrifying red warning: External Threat Detected. Facility Purge Initiated in 120 Seconds.
