Chapter 7 - The Flashbulb Storm

The sidewalk outside Vance Luxury erupted into a blinding storm of camera flashes and shouting reporters as the heavy steel doors finally unlocked. Microphones thrust forward like hungry serpents, and journalists clamored over one another to catch a glimpse of the scandal that had upended the city's high-end retail landscape. But it wasn't the disgraced boutique owner stepping into the flashing lights that made the crowd gasp in unison; it was the barefoot young girl in the simple cotton dress emerging from the grand entrance, flanked by federal agents and towering security personnel.

"Miss Vance! Is it true that Vance Global Holdings has reclaimed the property?" a reporter shouted, thrusting a recorder toward her face. "What is your official statement regarding Victoria Vance's arrest?"

Maya raised a single hand, her small gesture commanding absolute silence from the media frenzy. The chaotic clamor died down instantly, replaced by the collective hum of news cameras rolling live across national networks. She did not flinch from the blinding lights, nor did she cower beneath the invasive gaze of the public.

"Twenty years ago, this ground was stolen through fraud, intimidation, and corporate betrayal," Maya’s voice carried clearly across the damp pavement, amplified by the microphones. "For two decades, an illusion of luxury was built over the graves of honest people. Today, that illusion ends. Vance Luxury is no more. Effective immediately, this building is restored to its original charter as a cooperative foundation for local artisans and displaced creators."

A collective gasp rippled through the gathered crowd. Onlookers who had mocked her hours earlier now stared in absolute awe, realizing they had witnessed the fall of a tyrant and the rise of a rightful heir. Across the street, locked inside the windowless holding van, Victoria watched the live broadcast on a small monitor, her eyes widening in helpless horror as her entire legacy was dismantled in a single sentence.

Marcus stepped in, gently shielding Maya from the surging crowd and guiding her toward the idling armored SUV. As the heavy door closed behind her, a confidential message alert pinged on the secure tablet resting on the leather seat. Maya picked it up, her eyes narrowing as she read the encrypted sender's name flashing on the screen.

It wasn't a message from the prosecutors. It was a secret file from her father's hidden vault, sent by an unknown ally.
