Chapter 1 - The Strike of Contempt

"Stay away from my store, trash."
The sharp, venomous command cut through the opulent silence of the luxury boutique like a shard of broken glass. Victoria Vance stood tall over the fallen child, her immaculate black blazer catching the harsh glare of crystal chandeliers. Her dark, severe high bun mirrored the unyielding rigidity of her posture, while her signature red lipstick twisted into a snarl of pure disgust as she glared down at the barefoot girl sprawled helplessly across the pristine marble floor.
Maya pressed herself tighter against the cold, reflective stone, her simple light dress stained with dust from the street outside. She did not cry, nor did she scream. Her young chest rose and fell in slow, measured breaths beneath the weight of dozens of judging eyes. Onlookers hidden behind heavy velvet drapes gasped behind gloved hands, murmuring cruel judgments about the wretched little intruder who had dared to cross the sacred threshold of Vance Luxury.
"Get this filthy beggar out of my sight before I call the district police," Victoria snapped, not bothering to lower her voice as she gestured dismissively toward the security guards stationed near the arched mahogany entrance. "People like her exist solely to drag down everything we've built. They have no shame, no boundaries, and certainly no business breathing the same air as my clientele."
A collective murmur rippled through the gathered elite, heads nodding in synchronized agreement with the store owner’s ruthless decree. Victoria crossed her arms, her diamond-encrusted bracelet catching the light as she stared down her nose at the unmoving child, utterly convinced her absolute dominion over this space remained completely unchallenged.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a sleek, black armored SUV idled against the curb, its heavy engine purring with suppressed power. The tinted rear door swung open with a heavy mechanical thud, and a towering bodyguard in a razor-sharp tailored suit stepped out onto the sidewalk, striding purposefully into the lobby. Without a single glance at Victoria or the stunned crowd, the man walked straight to where the barefoot girl lay, dropped heavily to his knees, and pressed his forehead against the cold marble floor in a gesture of absolute, terrifying reverence.
"Owner’s daughter," the bodyguard proclaimed, his voice echoing loudly through the silent, paralyzed store, "forgive our late arrival."

Victoria’s breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening into hollow circles of absolute terror as the blood drained entirely from her face.
