Chapter 15 - A New Dawn

The headline on the glowing phone screen flashed brightly against the dashboard lights as Mark slowed the car to a gentle halt at a red traffic light.

The nightmare was truly, irrevocably over. No more hidden threats, no more fabricated debts, and no more shadows lingering in the hallways of their lives.

The emotional tension that had gripped them since that fateful confrontation in the dining room had completely dissolved, replaced by a quiet, unshakeable strength.

Mark pulled Clara close, resting his chin gently on her blonde hair as they looked out at the horizon, watching the stars emerge one by one in the clear American sky, ready to write their own future on a blank and untainted page.
