Chapter 12: A Visit to the Past

A week later, Clara took a long drive into the countryside, stopping at a small, quiet cemetery nestled beneath a canopy of golden autumn maples.

She carried a bouquet of simple white lilies, walking down the familiar path until she reached a headstone bearing her father's name: *David Miller – A Man of Truth and Honor.*

Clara knelt on the grass, placing the flowers gently against the granite base.

"It's done, Dad," she whispered, her voice carrying a profound sense of closure that had eluded her for seven long years. "They can't hurt anyone else. The truth is out in the light."

The wind rustled the dry leaves around her, carrying away the heavy knot of anger that had driven her every waking hour. For years, she had defined herself solely by her pursuit of justice, adopting false names and wearing expensive disguises. Now, with the mission complete, she realized she had to rediscover who Clara Miller truly was.

A quiet step on the gravel behind her broke the silence.

Clara stood up and turned. Julian was standing twenty feet away, wearing a simple wool coat, holding a single sprig of rosemary—the herb of remembrance.
