Chapter 6 - The Counter-Strategy

Evelyn maintained her composure, her dark eyes locking onto Victor Sterling with a terrifying steadiness that momentarily unsettled the seasoned corporate predator. She did not flinch, nor did she retreat a single inch from the mahogany table.
"You think a staged transport accident and a fabricated paper trail will save you, Victor?" Evelyn asked, her voice dangerously calm as she tilted her head slightly. "You built your entire Asian syndicate on the assumption that my father left no redundancies in the Vance Global architecture."
Victor’s smile faltered for a fraction of a second, a micro-expression of doubt flashing across his eyes before he quickly reasserted his arrogant exterior. He crossed his arms over his tailored charcoal overcoat, leaning slightly forward against the edge of the table.
"Your father’s architecture is history, Evelyn, just like your husband," Victor scoffed softly. "The world has moved past old-money ethics. Raw power and offshore leverage dictate who survives in this market. You have until dawn to sign the transfer documents, or you can watch your legacy dismantled piece by piece while you sit behind bars."
Without waiting for a response, Victor turned on his heel and strode toward the main dining room doors, his heavy footsteps echoing against the hardwood floor until the iron doors clicked shut behind him.
Evelyn waited in absolute silence for three full minutes, listening to the faint purr of a high-end luxury vehicle engine accelerating down the gravel estate driveway. Only then did she move.
She walked quickly to the side service panel near the pantry, opened the concealed breaker box, and flipped the master security switch back to manual override. The crystal chandelier flickered once, then blazed back to life, illuminating the room in a brilliant wash of warm light.
Evelyn picked up her private mobile phone, bypassed the standard cellular network entirely by connecting to her encrypted satellite router, and dialed a direct, unregistered extension.
"Director Vance," a crisp, disciplined voice answered on the first ring.
"David, Victor Sterling is currently leaving the property," Evelyn commanded, her voice dropping all pretense of restraint as pure, executive authority took over. "Execute Protocol Omega across all European and North American bank servers immediately."
"Protocol Omega, ma'am?" the voice on the other end hesitated for a fraction of a second. "That will lock every single corporate account, including our own operational liquidity, for at least twelve hours. It will trigger a global market panic."
"Do it, David," Evelyn ordered without hesitation. "Cut off the oxygen supply to every shell company Victor controls before he reaches the main highway. If we’re going to demolish the house, we do it with everyone inside."
"Understood. Initiating Omega lockdown now," David replied, and the line disconnected with a sharp beep.
Evelyn placed the phone down, her gaze falling upon the heavy data drive Victor had left on the table. She picked it up between her thumb and forefinger, carrying it over to the mahogany desk where the financial documents were stacked.
She plugged the drive into her secure personal laptop. The screen flashed red, demanding a complex biometric override. Evelyn pressed her right thumb against the laptop’s integrated scanner.

The monitor flickered, bypassed the encryption wall in three seconds flat, and displayed a live surveillance feed of Victor’s vehicle speeding down the private estate access road—followed closely by three unmarked black SUVs pulling out from the tree line.
