Chapter 14: The Ring of Honest Gold

In October, on the anniversary of the day Alexander had returned home, he took Clara to the historic rose garden at the Greenwich estate.

The autumn leaves were glowing in brilliant shades of amber, copper, and gold.

Alexander stopped beside the stone fountain, turning to Clara, his grey eyes shining with deep, unconditional devotion.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

Inside was a simple, handcrafted gold band, forged without diamonds or pretentious ornamentation, inscribed with three words on the inner curve: *TRUTH, HONOR, HOME*.

""Clara,"" Alexander said, his voice deep, steady, and filled with emotion. ""I lived in a world of manufactured luxury for thirty-five years, thinking money was the measure of a man. But you and Leo taught me that a home is built on courage, honesty, and love. I don't want a socialite partner. I want you. Will you be my wife, my partner, and the mother of our family forever?""

Clara looked into his eyes, tears of pure, unburdened joy streaming down her cheeks.

""Yes, Alexander,"" Clara whispered, stepping into his arms. ""A thousand times, yes.""

Alexander slipped the gold ring onto her finger, sealing a bond that had survived darkness and emerged into the radiant light.
